Comments: Saturday night saw the welcome return to the Railway of those good time ‘boys’ Shattered playing their brand of enjoyable rock. The camaraderie between the lads soon rubbed off onto the sparse but enthusiastic audience as they opened the first half with one of my favourite UFO tracks ‘Shoot Shoot’ had a bit of Blink 182, some Green day then had the first of a couple of AC/DC tracks with the ‘Dirty Deeds Done With Sheep’ Well that’s what it sounded like to me. A couple of pints later and with more bodies in the place the night was warming up nicely. After having to put up with Vertigo (not my favourite band) we had a fine rendition of Black Night that brought back memories. A fine song in, Billy Idol’s White Wedding, which always goes down well, was followed by a new song to me, Feeling The Moment from Feeder, very well done. The usual dig at Mr Young, Sweet Home Alabama, went down well, and we also got a mini drum solo from Mark with their version of Rock & Roll. A very good shot at the Lennon/McCartney penned ‘Come Together’ was followed by the ever-popular Highway To Hell, which brought the first half to a close. Radioheads ‘Creep’ kicked off the second portion, followed by Gary Moore’s Over The Hills and Far Away, always a good tune to put out, and hopefully the man does the same when I go to see him in October. One of the new songs that the lads are trying out was given an airing, My Sex Is On Fire from the Kings of Leon, not my cuppa tea, far to modern for this old rock dinosaur, but nevertheless done well. Then Snails advertised the fact he got a brand new car, not quite a jaguar, Shag got his didgeridoo out for the ever-popular Gay Bar. Then had a stab at the Fratellis song, heard mostly on the terraces. We then had a couple of chavette tunes in Teenage Dirtbag and Fat Bottom Girls, always good for a sing-a-long. Another new one had an airing with Grounds For Divorce from Elbow, quite liked that one. Enter Sandman went down well, as usual and the night was brought to a close with the lads very own rendition of 500 Miles. All in all a bloody good night out.
